ANEW (Association for Non-traditional Employment for Women) works for the uplifting underprivileged women providing free of cost non-traditional skill training and placement. Training is provided in Home nursing, Computers – DTP, Auto/Car driving, House keeping and Optometrics. Close to 4000 women have been trained with a placement percentage of above 80%.
Recently CF supported ANEW for their home nursing training program for underprivileged women from government schools who have completed 8th standard but dropped out before completing their high school. The course encompasses learning basic skills in caring for patients and providing geriatric and pediatric care. Theory classes are conducted for three months and practical classes are conducted in various healthcare institutions for additional three months. Spoken English and life skills training are an integral part of the course.
On completion of training, ANEW helps in placing the women at nursing homes or as home nurses. On an average the women earn between Rs.8000 and Rs.9000 a month.
