“I am now back at my work as a sweet maker and the owner is happy with my work! I can now read and write with ease like as before.”
Mr. Sujith*, aged 42 years, is working as a sweet maker in a local sweet shop in the Namkhana block. He is the sole bread earner of a family of 6 members. Though his earning is not sufficient for the family to run smoothly, all of them were managing and living happily somehow. 9 months ago, Sujith* started experiencing loss of vision, which resulted in his professional life and work getting hampered. Because of this, the owner of the sweet shop was not at all happy with him. He was on the verge of losing his job. In his personal life, daily household activities were affected too and he was unable to read and write properly. However, Sujith* was not aware of eye healthcare and did not reach out to the Vision Centre in the area.
When Sujith* was sharing his problem of lessening eyesight with one of his neighbours, that neighbour suggested he visit the vision centre as early as possible to get proper diagnosis and treatment. Agreeing with the suggestion, Sujith* went to the Namkhana Vision Centre, where he was examined thoroughly and was prescribed to wear spectacles with a specified power. Sujith bought the specified spectacle from the Vision Centre and at present, when we asked about his feedback, he said, “I am now back at my work as a sweet maker and the owner is happy with my work! I can now read and write with ease like before.”
