Improving sexual and reproductive health in Bellary urban slums and Bellary taluk rural areas

On Sunday, 25th Nov’2015 Deepak, Director, Global Technology Office and CF Bangalore Core Committee member, attended a very grand even of inauguration of the new Scanning Machine at the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) Bellary Branch. Local dignitaries such as Sri Sameer Shukla (DC/DM of Bellary), Sri S K Modi (2nd biggest industrialist in Bellary) and a few of the local/Mumbai based FPAI senior management were present on the occasion. Following this the NGO also got the Ambulance delivered on 1 Jan 2016.

CF supported FPAI with a Scanning Machine for their in-house Scanning Centre. This hospital provides a range of diagnostics scans for women at subsidized rates. CF also extended its support to purchase an ambulance to reach rural people for health services like check- up of pregnant women in remote villages (located 20 to 50 kms from Bellary) where there are no medical facilities.

FPAI is a national level Nongovernmental organization working in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.  It has 41 Branches all over India with Mumbai being their headquarters.  Bellary Branch functions based on the funds partly donated by IPPF (International Planned Parenthood Federation- London) along with locally generated donations.

FPAI, Bellary Branch has been serving the poor, marginalized and underserved people since 1973. It has its own hospital building, constructed with public donations, which houses one well equipped operation theatre and a pathological laboratory.  The hospital offers family planning and gynecological related medical and surgical services to the community.

With the in-house Scanning facility, the hospital will be able to provide a range of diagnostic services for women, at subsidized rates. The provision of the in-house Scanning facility is expected to benefit about 1000 to 1500 patients annually.
