Innovative ophthalmic equipment for screening

Cognizant Foundation had supported Community Eye Care Foundation (CECF), Pune towards purchase of 3nethra equipment for screening the underprivileged patients for eye related ailments.  The NGO had planned to screen both diabetic patients (in the premises of Pune Diabetic Association, Diabetes Care and Research Foundation, Sassoon General Hospital and National Program for the Control of Blindness Unit at District Hospital, Aundh) as well as general population (rural patients in Jejuri, Baramati and Rajgurunagar and slums of Parvati and Yerawada).

With the support of this innovative equipment, they had planned to screen persons at risk, especially from urban slums and rural areas.  Each month they planned to screen 200 known diabetics and 1500 non-diabetic population.  80% of these patients will be examined completely free of cost with rest subsidized.

Community Eye Care Foundation (CECF) was founded by Dr Parikshit Gogate in 2010, as a registered charitable trust to provide quality eye care services to the underprivileged population of Pune. The trust has been actively organising school eye screening camps not just for normal children but also the learning disabled, differently abled and the physically challenged children.  They conduct free eye camps in and around Pune regularly by using their Lifeline Mobile Eye clinic which has a Slit-lamp,                 Bio-Microscope, Auto Refractometer chair unit, Fundoscope and Retinoscope. The Trust provides                   Phaco surgeries, Small Incision Cataract surgeries, Refractive error correction, low vision services and secondary level eye care services through Dr Gogate’s eye clinic, either free of cost or at subsidized rate.
