Cognizant Foundation has supported Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK), Bangalore for the purchase of medical equipment & sound proofing of audiology room for ‘Project Early Identification’. Over 1500 children will be screened free of cost through this early detection and intervention.
‘Project Early Identification’ plans to provide detailed audiological evaluation to young infants and children to identify hearing loss as early as possible to provide early intervention, which helps to develop near normal speech and language skills.
Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK) is a non-profit organization set up in 1982 to cater to individuals with Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and combination of learning disabilities and multiple disabilities. SSK also has facilities for vocational training for adolescents and young adults. A sub center aimed at decentralization of services is located at Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital and caters to children from infancy to 8 years of age, after which they are transferred to the SSK campus in Indira nagar, integrated into mainstream schools and special schools near their homes.
