Multi- specialty charity hospital for the tribal population at Saragur, Mysore

Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), Saragur, Mysore District, is an NGO started in 1984 and is working in the sectors of Health, Education, Community Development, Training, Research and Advocacy & Consultancy Services. Vivekananda Memorial Hospital (VMH) in Saragur is established and run by SVYM. The hospital is a multi-specialty, non-profit, 80 bedded hospital that serves 400,000 people inclusive of about 1800 indigenous tribal people of H. D. Kote taluk and surrounding areas. This taluk is one of 39 most backward taluks listed in Dr. D M Nanjundappa Report for Govt. of Karnataka. 90% of the people are Below Poverty Level. The hospital is only one of its kind in entire Taluk and has been functioning 24/7 since 1998.

VMH has witnessed continued demand for its services and an increase in the footfalls for the hospital. This increased demand had necessitated replacement of some of the medical equipment which have worn out with use. There was also need to purchase new medical equipment to offer up-to-date state-of-the-art services to the needy patients. The patients were forced to go to Mysore to get treated because of the lack of these medical equipment in Saragur.

In October 2016, CF supported SVYM for a set of critical and lifesaving medical equipment.
