State-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment for eye care institution in Karnataka

Cognizant Foundation has provided state-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment for Karnataka Health Institute (KHI), Belagavi District, Karnataka. The aim of this project is to prevent avoidable blindness among adults residing in remote rural areas. This project has increased the capacity of the eye hospital to cater to increased demand for quality eye-health services in the area. Through this support, over 4000 patients benefit each year.

Karnataka Health Institute (KHI) is a charitable organization set up in 1935. It has a 250-bedded charitable general hospital in Ghataprabha village, Gokak Taluk, Belagavi District, Karnataka. KHI renders advanced medical services in eye care, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, early Cancer care and diagnostics to underserved people.

CF has adopted “Preventing Avoidable Blindness” as one of its focus areas in Healthcare. Under this focus area, CF supports various programmes to prevent blindness among children and adults. This project in KHI is part of Cognizant Foundation’s programme to provide state-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment for eye care institutions.
